OUR STORY

Moi University, Nairobi Satellite Campus was launched on the 14th November 2005. Since its inception, the Campus has continued witnessing tremendous expansion characterized by an overall increase in registration of both undergraduates and post-graduates students and attendant infrastructure.

Welcome Message

Welcome to Moi University Nairobi Campus, located within the Bazaar Plaza at the junction of Biashara street, Tubman Road and Moi Avenue, the campus is centrally located in the business district of Nairobi and offers a very conducive learning environment. It is equipped with modern facilities which include: state of the art lecture rooms, library, ICT labs and WIFI connectivity in each of the floors. The campus offers diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The students are attended by a very able academic and non-academic staff.
Since its inception on 14th of November, 2005, the campus has continued to register an overall expansion. This is evidenced by significant increase in registration of both undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Facilities and Amenities

The Main Facilities available at Nairobi campus include; 52 Lecture rooms (on 7th, 8th, 9th ,11th, 12th,13th & 14th floors), Library, ICT labs, Media lab, Examination office, Coordinating offices for various schools, Academic staff offices, Administrative staff offices, Boardrooms, Conference room, Campus Director’s Office and Vice Chancellor’s office. Others include the Students’ centre which is equipped with Table Tennis, Darts, Chess, Scrabble and a pool table. In addition the campus also leases a Swimming pool and Aerobics studio at the YMCA and a sports ground (soccer, basketball and volleyball) at Jamhuri high school.

Fire Safety Installations at the Campus

The campus has installed a total of 66 fire extinguishers of classes A, B and C on the campus. Each floor occupied by the University in the building has two fire extinguishers that have been installed. Inspection was last carried out on 6th September, 2014. The campus also has 25 fire hose reels spread over all the 12 floors, and 2 pieces of fire hydrants installed on Moi Avenue/Biashara Street. A total of 21 Fire alarm bells are installed on every floor. Inspection of all the fire alarm bells was last carried out on 1st July 2014. Three fire blankets are in custody of the Security office. The Campus however, does not have a Sand Basket and Fire Engines because of its proximity to the City Fire Station.

Provisions for the physically challenged at the Nairobi campus

The Bazaar Building has 4 Lifts to all floors of the Nairobi campus and are usually well maintained and in good condition. Routine maintenance is done on a regular basis and there is a standby generator incase of power blackout. The campus has a ramp at the entrance of the building of the building. The ramp also serves the following floors: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and M4. Lavatory facilities for Persons With Disabilities (PWD) are also available on all the floors that are served by the ramp. The department of Student Affairs have undergone training on sign language and hence PWD can easily access quality service from the department of Student Affairs. Besides PWD don’t queue while receiving services. Counseling and social skills are also given by the students’ counselor to students who are psychologically/physiologically challenged. Currently, the department of Student Affairs is working on a programme to engage students with disabilities in various activities.
